Bill Johnson for U.S. Senate November 2, 2009 From the Campaign Trail . . .
Since the last newsletter, I have attended many events, picnics, and rallies. I am always humbled by the generous and kind voter comments about the campaign. I am also humbled by the growing volunteer support and often get asked how to help with the campaign. The most important way to help is to spread the word everywhere you go. Below are some other grassroots activities that require minimal time and cost but will have big impact.
1. Write letters to the editor of local print & online papers. This will help build name recognition and communicate a conservative message. (Example from Dr. David Duncan).
2. Be active with online political blogging. Defend your support of the campaign and question the positions of the other candidates. Push back on the idea that we can't win without BIG money. We need 80,000 votes to win the Republican primary.
3. Introduce me to your Facebook friends. The virtual campaign is an important part of winning. Facebook allows voters to build a direct relationship with the campaign.
4. Distribute Campaign Newspapers. We are printing another 50,000 newspapers for distribution. Discuss the campaign with friends & family. Hand out newspapers to beauty & barber shops, veterans groups, pregnancy centers, right to life groups.
5. Identify Speaking Opportunities. Contact your local county Republican organizations, veterans groups, tea party groups, 9.12 groups, colleges (young Republicans), right to life groups, and politically active churches to arrange opportunities to get the campaign in front of the voters.
6. Help with fundraising. Ask your friends, family, and neighbors to contribute. Recommend gift ideas for Christmas and birthdays - - Flags signed by Bob Heft, CD audio recordings of the Constitution, or other items from the Patriot Store.
We have several 'Defending the Constitution, Honoring the Flag' events November 17th - 19th. Dr. Keyes, Mr. Heft, and the ORIGINAL 50 Star Flag will be in Louisville, Elizabethtown, Georgetown, and Berea. Invite your friends and come hear a great message. Visit the campaign website for details.
Best Regards, Bill |
