Is there a town hall meeting in your area soon?

Posted 2009-08-11 1:39 AM (#20274 - in reply to #20263) By: Savvy

On Sean Hannity's TV show, Dick Morris said Monday night
to focus on sending hand-written letters and attending town
hall meetings hosted by Democrat senators in conservative
RED states
, as they may be willing to withstand pressure from
the Dem leadership ... if they know the folks back home really
care about blocking this horrible healthcare legislation.

Morris emphasized the importance of the senate vote, b/c it
may come down to 50/50 with Biden casting the deciding vote.

If a few Dem senators vote to represent their constituents who
are predominantly conservative, rather than the liberal Washington
elites, the scales might just be tipped in favor of the American
people.

Though every contact is important .... State senators to devote an
extra effort to reach include those in ...

Montana
North Dakota
South Dakota
Arkansas

Illinois

Every couple of days I call our Sentators Burris and Durbin offices and each time am told they don't yet have a schedule.  Apparently they don't plan ahead.  Or else they are hiding.  Durbin's Chicago office said you can try faxing a written request for a meeting, (312) 353-0150 - fx.

Republican Rep. Peter Roskam doesn't have a schedule either; however, they did take my name and phone to be contacted if something is scheduled.

California:

I spoke with Dianne Feinstein's scheduler this morning.

She said Senator Feinstein has decided not to have
any healthcare town hall meetings during the month
of August.

Asked if the senator would have any public meetings
of any sort during the recess, she indicated there
would be none.

The scheduler suggested attending a "Constituent
Breakfast" on Thursday mornings ... in Washington, D.C.
after Sen. Feinstein returns from the August break.

So Californians have to fly to Washington, D. C. after the
August recess, if they want to attend a public meeting
with Senator Feinstein?

Asked about locating information regarding other events the
senator plans to attend here in California, in August, the
scheduler said that the senator's schedule is not publicized.

Conclusion:  I think my senator is hiding from her constituents.

(H.R. 3200)..." would provide almost no savings for taxpayers, while running the deficit even higher over the next decade and beyond, and most importantly, place even more power in the hands of government – to the detriment of our individual freedoms as Americans. Put simply, it is one of the most important and potentially devastating bills that I have seen in my years in Congress. I don't believe I’m overstating it when I say our nation's future prosperity is at stake in this critical debate." - Rep Herger

CNN reports:

Many town hall meetings are open to anyone. If you're interested in attending one, you're not alone. More than 70 percent of people say they are either very likely or somewhat likely to attend a town hall on health care, according to a recent CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey.

Go to your town hall meeting.  Be heard ... not herded.

Don't let Washington insiders herd America into a monopolistic government-run healthcare system via nefarious so-called Compromise Co-Ops.

Dear Friends,
.
  JOIN US OUTSIDE
CONGRESSMAN ZACK SPACE'S OFFICE

After repeated attempts to set up a meeting with 18th District
Representative Zack Space
, and after requesting information from his
office on the location of schedules "Townhall Meetings" our requests
have fallen on deaf ears.....SO.....

We are taking the meeting to Congressman Space's office.

Please join with us this ...

Wednesday, Aug. 19th, from 4-6 pm
outside Congressman Space's Zanesville office

for a "Townhall/Tea Party Meeting".  Coach Dave will be one of the
featured speakers at the event designed to let our voices be heard
in the battle for our government.

On Congressman Space's website (http://space.house.gov/index.html)
no mention is made of any meetings where regular folks can be heard.

Please join us ...

THIS WEDNESDAY
from 4-6 at
17 N. Front Street in
Zanesville,

so we must visit him.

Space is identified as one of the key "Blue Dog" conservative
Democratic representatives.  It is time to find out!

Please join us and make certain Congressman Space represents
the people and not merely Nancy Pelosi.

Passing the Salt,

Coach Dave Daubenmire

Dr. Keyes says that in the olden days, elites were worshipped as gods.  Today's elites feel cheated because, though they can achieve great wealth and power in a society based upon the equality of all men, they cannot obtain worship.

About 00:53:50 - 00:56:46 on the clock

If you're dealing with folks who have already looked you in the eye and said, "We are taking the children in the womb, the offspring of our humanity and we are reading them out of the human race, and we are declaring that it is o.k. to kill them for whatever reason, and even after they're born, somebody like Barack Obama took the position that you didn't have to respect their life -- that is a callous disregard for the intrinsic worth of human life as it is ennunciated in the great founding principles of this country:  that we are all created equal and endowed by God, not human choice and judgment and understanding, with our worth and unalienable rights.  That notion has been thrown aside by these folks.

And once they have made the judgment that one class of human beings can be declared inferior and dispensed with, why is it that people were not expecting, as I often, sadly over the years have predicted, that that same mentality would then be applied to whatever groups these folks found to be IN THE WAY of their consolidation of power?

And it turns out now, for the convenience of their effort to establish government control of healthcare, they want a system that will give them life and death control over people as they age -- they can treat them somehow as if they are inferior because they have past their prime in life.

That's not decent.  You know that it's revolting to human conscience -- that it disrespects those people who have in point of fact been responsible for the upbringing of every new generation.  That's not the way people ought to treat the folks who are in their senior years and approaching the end of life -- and you and I both know it.

But people who have a callous disregard for human life at its beginning, I don't find it surprising that they have now shown a callous disregard for human life as it approaches its end.  It is the same mentality.  And sadly, Stan, the folks who are standing inbetween and thinking, "Oh, we're safe because we're not babies and we're not old people."  They're kidding themselves, because the next stage of this, as we saw with the Nazii's back in the 20th century, is that you look at all the folks who STAND IN THE WAY, who don't correspond to your little straight-jacket judgment of politically correct ideology and you declare them all to be beyond the pale.

If you're pro-life, if you're a veteran, you're somebody who wants to stand on your rights under the U.S. Constitution, including your 2nd Amendment right, then they'll read YOU out of the protections that ought to be accorded to every person in the United States.

So I think we're moving down a road that sadly was predicted, once you realize that these people have abandoned the basic American principles of justice.
