Psalm 111

1 Praise the LORD!

I will praise the LORD with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.

2 The works of the LORD are great,
Studied by all who have pleasure in them.
3 His work is honorable and glorious,
And His righteousness endures forever.
4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered;
The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
5 He has given food to those who fear Him;
He will ever be mindful of His covenant.
6 He has declared to His people the power of His works,
In giving them the heritage of the nations.

7 The works of His hands are verity and justice;
All His precepts are sure.
8 They stand fast forever and ever,
And are done in truth and uprightness.
9 He has sent redemption to His people;
He has commanded His covenant forever:
Holy and awesome is His name.

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.

Drudgereport finally, today May 17, lists something to do with the the Notre Dame scandal ... We need to become the media, otherwise you will only hear what they want you to see. I take issue with the following article labelling Alan as a professional protester

I just talked to Hobie Smith, who is the AIP Chairman in Ohio. He said the streets outside are lined with pro-life protestors. He also said there’s a rumor going around that there are several busloads of ACORN Obama supporters inbound.

Just talked to Patrick Flynn. He says there are at minimum several thousand pro-lifers outside, with more buses rolling in. He’s with Dr. Keyes.

He said there are a couple of counter protesters across the street, but every time they fire up their bullhorn, our bagpipers fire up and drown them out.

Someone on FR just said that Dr. Keyes just called in to Fox News for an interview as well.

From AIP of Idaho Affiliate Jeff Head, on FR:

To: EternalVigilance
Keyes just handed the Fox News commentator his backside on a platter. The commentator kept trying to take issue with Keyes opposition and protest, trying to take the "can't we all get along", and "we must engage others," line and why not let the President speak. Keys pointed out so clearly and artiiculately, as he can, that letting the President speak was irrelevant, and that engaging him is irrelevent because that is not what is happening here.

Notre Dame is honoring Obama, and that is the difference and the issue. Honoring is not engaging. Honoring goes well beyond hearing him speak and his different viewpoint. Honoring him sends a message to the youth that Obama's message is worth honor, and immulation...and that is a lie. It is in direct opposition to the precepts of the Catholic Church on life and morality which Notre Dame is first and foremost supposed to represent and promote.

Way to go Alan!

Three verbal protesters taken out of Notre Dame commencement

By Kirk Mason (mason@wsbt.com)

NOTRE DAME — Shortly into [Alleged] President Obama’s commencement speech Sunday afternoon at the University of Notre Dame, three people were escorted out of the Joyce Center. The first two people briefly interrupted Obama’s speech.

The first man began shouting “You owe an apology to the Mother of God.”

A second man, from near the back of the Joyce Center, shouted, “Abortion is murder.”

The two men were loudly booed by the crowd as they were being removed by security staff.

In response to the verbal protests, Obama said, "We're alright. We're fine everybody. We are not going to shy away from things that are uncomfortable sometimes."

As Obama continued with his speech, a few minutes later a third man was removed from the crowd.

He was shouting “Stop killing our children.”

The best part of the speech was when Obama began to talk about abortion and a baby in the audience began to cry.

It was a loud and very distinctive cry.

I suspect it made more than one person weep.

I know I did.

“Obama invoked both crackpot modernists, Hesburgh and Bernardin for his version of “seamless garment” liberation theology, minus the sanctity of life.

It was the usual appeal to moral relativism as the supposed higher ground. Then there was the very unfortune slur, the president’s reference to “parochial” views. This is ALWAYS code for an anti-Catholic dig. Suggesting “parochial” views are in conflict with a higher ground of “universal” moral relativism.

Jenkins’ hysterial speech praising Obama was disgraceful. One of the most disgraceful and shameful moments in Catholic intellectual history and the postconciliar period. It’s clear Jenkins’ is an hysterical supporter of Obama and shameless liberal. This was absurd from the Stockholm Syndrome valedictorian to the hysterical cheering for Obama.

One moment of great irony: As Obama started his spin on relativism for abortion you could hear a baby crying in the audience on the Fox News feed.”

Very well said.

For about 15 seconds, Obama appeared visably shaken. I thought it was from something he was seeing in the crowd that the camera was not showing us, or another heckler we could not hear. Maybe it was the baby... MAYBE IT WAS GOD?!

re: Hesburgh

Hesburgh had doubts about the ban on birth control in the 1960s and apparently linked up with the Rockefeller Foundation, a nestbed of hysterical anti-Catholic Malthusian population control freaks. "Father" Hesburgh presided over Notre Dame's divorce from the Catholic faith and staged a conference on "modernizing" Catholic universities in 1967 at Land O'Lakes, Wisconsin. The result was to secularize Catholic universities and load them up with heretic dissenters and liberal anti-Catholics.

Obama actually mentioned Land O'Lakes, Wisconsin, alluding to an earlier meeting there on civil rights. But his speech writer must have known the connection and put that in there as code as well. You just NEVER - never - call Catholics "parochial" in any context. That is a traditional anti-Catholic slur and it was actually quite shocking to hear Obama use that term in his speech. It was an insulting comment and clearly directed at pro-life Catholics. As was Jenkins' and Obama's references to "demonizing" opponents in politics and moral debates. That Jenkins singled out pro-life activists as supposed demonizers was disgusting and a moral distortion.

The other disgusting part was Obama's canard about the boy with diabetes and stem cells. That any Notre Dame student cheered for this line was a damnable indictment of the education going on there. There is NO scientific evidence that embryonic stem cells will EVER cure diabetes. And there are plenty of distinguished medical researchers who will testify to that. That Obama used the ND commencement platform to push for embryonic stem cell research was Satanic and revolting.

Obama used the term "parochial" meaning "narrow, limited, provincial" which he contrasted with a "universal" view of moral relativism which he claimed was the higher ground for "coming together" on issues as enlighented freethinkers, of which presumably he considers himself one. That use of the term "parochial" is a slur and anti-Catholic. A traditional one of opponents of the Catholic faith and those who slander Catholics. Obama used it in that way.

In debates about Catholic colleges and universities, liberals and modernist dissenters have used the term "parochial" as a slur against orthodox and pro-life Catholics, invoking a parody of Catholicism.

I did not hear or witness the speech but am responding to the text whose link was earlier in this thread.

It is an incredible mishmash.
"Your class has come of age at a moment of great consequence for our nation and the world - a rare inflection point in history where the size and scope of the challenges before us require that we remake our world to renew its promise; that we align our deepest values and commitments to the demands of a new age."
....
"This is the generation that must find a path back to prosperity and decide how we respond to a global economy that left millions behind even before this crisis hit - an economy where greed and short-term thinking were too often rewarded at the expense of fairness, and diligence, and an honest day's work."
....
"Moreover, no one person, or religion, or nation can meet these challenges alone."
________
In the context while speaking to and before a purportedly Christian institution, he seems to have abandoned the distinctiveness of Christianity (and Jesus Christ as the way the truth, and the life, and only means to come to the Father, John 14:6; 1 Timothy 2:1-7). He seems to be calling the students to a vague cross between materialism and globalism.

The audacity of his words bring to mind the questions, "Is he stupid?" "Or is he counting on the stupidity or obtuseness of his audience?"
________
"Nowhere do these questions come up more powerfully than on the issue of abortion."

"....when we open our hearts and our minds to those who may not think like we do or believe what we do - that's when we discover at least the possibility of common ground."

"That's when we begin to say, 'Maybe we won't agree on abortion, but we can still agree that this is a heart-wrenching decision for any woman to make, with both moral and spiritual dimensions.'"

"So let's work together to reduce the number of women seeking abortions by reducing unintended pregnancies, and making adoption more available, and providing care and support for women who do carry their child to term. Let's honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion, and draft a sensible conscience clause, and make sure that all of our health care policies are grounded in clear ethics and sound science, as well as respect for the equality of women."
....
"You will hear talking heads scream on cable, read blogs that claim definitive knowledge, and watch politicians pretend to know what they're talking about."

"... it would take a number of years and a nationwide movement to fully realize the dream of civil rights for all of God's children."
_________________
Already several have posted about the offenses of the speech.

I would point out that "the dream of civil rights for all of God's children" has not been "fully realized" when any of them can be terminated up to and after birth in his vision of "respect for the equality of women" (does this include allowing them to abort their babies for being girls?).

I did like the line warning the audience that they would "watch politicians pretend to know what they are talking about."

One of the most beautiful things about the great work all of our people have done in the lead in to today's events is that by the time Obama actually spoke, Christians were focused like a laser-beam on HIS ACTUAL WORDS. And they were appropriately disgusted by those lying words.

Kudoes to all who contributed to these historic events!

In his own mind B.O. had to articulate the abortion debate in his terms, thus framing the arguments to his satisfaction. The protests and the preliminaries were an affront to his ego. Had he given a traditional commencement speech, he would have lost the bully pulpit opportunity and possibly have been accused of avoiding the topic. So all those grads worried about losing their commencement to the controversy had to endure the O trying to out-debate the majority of Americans.

Your post is one illustration of how, through the sacrificial work of a small band of courageous activists, we now have the initiative.

Armies that have the initiative, and keep it, win battles. Every time.

Obama, conversely, lost the initiative today.

To reiterate: Our job now is to keep the initiative. If we do, we will win.

Believe it or not, I saw move-on-operatives use ND to credit/blame the Republican Party for protests. And they claimed Republicans behind it were using it to “stir up” their base and for Party list building. Ripley’s has nothing on them.

Now that's funny. "Republican operatives" wouldn't get anywhere near the cultural frontlines. They're all hiding under a desk somewhere inside the Beltway today.

The best they could do, after seeing the way things were going, was to get Steele on a talking head show to make nice with sweet semi-pro-life words, and to get Sarah Palin to send an email to a blog.

When you "honor" Barack Obama, ask him why he feels waterboarding a terrorist is torture but a saline burning bath...is not?
-------------------------------------------

"Now, understand _ understand, Class of 2009, I do not suggest that the debate surrounding abortion can or should go away."

“Open hearts. Open minds. Fair-minded words.”

So how do you say suck the brains out by vacuum in fair-minded words?

No, this is an important tactic of abortionists. Change the wording, sterilize the ugliness, and reduce it and its purpose to a euphemism or acronym…or “fair-minded words”.

What were the fair-minded words for holocaust or the concentration camp techniques? This is exactly what he is calling for, in code. They want a political correct term for a politically incorrect , brutal, procedure.

The predicament he would have us in is how do you communicate sucking the brains out by vacuum with fair-minded words?

Fair-minded words needed -- apply within….

The doctor delivers all of the baby but its head, then inserts a sharp scissors into the back of its head. The scissors are opened, and a vacuum tube inserted. The brains are sucked out by the vacuum.

How’s that for open dialogue?

Two of the three Obama disrupters were men we spent time in jail with. One of them shaved off his mustache and beard so as not to be recognized by the ND police as a repeat "offender." It worked.
